2009 Bloggies Finalist for Best European Weblog

On Friday I got some amazing news:

Bleeding Espresso has been named a finalist in the 2009 Bloggies for Best European Weblog:

2009 Bloggies

Vote for Bleeding Espresso here!

2009 Bloggies Voting

I am truly humbled and honored to represent the Bel Paese this year, and I thank all of you who nominated me from the bottom of my cuore.

We’re up against fabulous blogs Scaryduck, Iceland Weather Report, Bitchy Jones’s Diary, and one of my very favorites, last year’s winner, and perpetual finalist Chocolate & Zucchini, so it’ll be an uphill battle to win, but as the cliché goes, it truly is an honor just being nominated.

I congratulate all the finalists in this year’s Bloggies, especially my friends at Thursday Night Smackdown (Best-Kept Secret Weblog), Travellious (Best Travel Weblog), and Secret Agent Mama (Best Photography of a Weblog).

For those who are visiting here for the first time, a warm welcome from sunny southern Italy:

The best place to start learning about me and the blog is in the About section, which also includes links to more of my writing, and through my favorite posts, hand-selected and provided for you in the “Best of” tab above.

If you are so inclined, please vote for Bleeding Espresso at the 2009 Bloggies by February 2…just in time for World Nutella Day on February 5th!

Grazie mille!

All About Alltop and Why You Should Be On It

Alltop ExpatsHave you heard about Alltop?

Through the magic of Twitter, I have been seeing the term floated around for several months, but now I have a very good reason to tell you more about it:

I’m now listed on Alltop Expats!

OK, so what is Alltop?

Alltop’s homepage says it’s “an ‘online magazine rack’ of popular topics”–439 popular topics to be exact. Founder Guy Kawasaki describes it as “aggregation without the aggravation” with a “goal is to satisfy the information needs of the 99% of Internet users who will never use an RSS feed reader or create a custom page.”

Basically you browse Alltop by category or alphabetically if you have extra time on your hands, find what you like, click, and end up with all the top stories on a given subject via the RSS feeds from selected sites.

So, for example, if you were interested in, say, expatriate life, you’d go to

Expats.Alltop.Com

for “All the Top Expatriate News” and there you would find a collection of expat-related information, including the latest posts from Bleeding Espresso.

Easy peasy!

So go have a look around Alltop; I guarantee you’ll find lots of great new places to visit no matter what your interests are. As if you needed more blogs and websites to read, right? Yes, but this *focuses* your time, and that’s always a good thing.

Have you heard of or used Alltop? What do you think?

Mom always makes Peanut Butter Blossoms, peanut butter cookies with a Hershey’s Kiss nestled in the center, but the recipe works just as well even if you’re without kisses of the chocolate persuasion.

love thursday: happy birthday to p and to bleeding espresso

It’s finally here! P is finally entering his 30s! Woohoo!

Sorry, but sometimes being a bit older than your mate wears on you, especially when the first digit of your ages don’t match. Now, finally, after two years of being the only one whose age started with a 3, P has joined me. Happy day, happy day!

And you know what else? Bleeding Espresso turns two years old today! So here are three gorgeous hearts courtesy of aussiegall on Flickr:

One for P, one for Bleeding Espresso, and one for all of you who visit, encourage, and inspire me to keep writing, taking photos, cooking, and smiling (not necessarily in that order). Mwaaaah!

And hey it’s also Santa Barbara‘s day, which I’ve written about here at Italy Magazine.

Happy Love Thursday everyone!
