Psst . . . have you sent in your entry for World Nutella Day 2008?
Read the full instructions on how to participate here and be sure to send your entries to nutelladay[at]nutelladay.com to be included in the big round-up!
We’ve already received so many fabulous ideas–please don’t start any diets in the next few days–but there’s always room for more!
For now, though, I want to share with you a photo I found on Flickr and am posting here through a Creative Commons License:
Your job is to caption it, or, in other words . . .
Tell me what in the name of Nutella is going on here!
And don’t forget to send in those entries!
Sara and I are waiting, spoons and forks and, um, fingers in hand!
WOW! A world nutella day. I’ve never heard of that before. I am not very fond of Nutella, but I love chocolate π (as you already know from my blog…..)
Britt-Arnhild’s last blog post..Chocolate on Blue Monday
I wonder if there’s a world chocolate day….
I entered…my girls are growing up on Nutella!
poppy fields’s last blog post..Nutella Day
Thanks Meredith! Excellent entry π
I need more coffee before I can come up with a clever caption for that picture!
…kacey wanders off muttering she’s never had nutella…
kacey’s last blog post..Nicknames you Loveβ¦or hate
Kacey, you know you can go to NutellaUSA.com and either find the store nearest you or even enter to win a whole case of the stuff! Just don’t spill it on the keyboard. Ew.
I am hoping they are dressed up for Halloween. ha!
nyc/caribbean ragazza’s last blog post..Gooooooo Giants!
Yes NYC, one would hope!
I don’t like it either. It smells funny. If chickens wore hair oil that’s what it would smell like.
Caption:
“I don’t like it either, but given that I’m pregnant it was wear this jar or come as mayonnaise.”
Judith in Umbria’s last blog post..A kitchen Sunday
Chickens wearing hair oil…dressing up as mayonnaise…awful, awful thoughts π
I’m with Kacey, in that I need a little more “wakey” time before I come up with a clever caption. But basically the above activity is illustrating the exact action that takes place when Nutella is in my home.
Nutella is taken down from the cabinet
Nutella is opened
the gold protective cover is removed (I love thatit’s gold btw π
a spoon is plunged into its creaminess
the spoon is licked clean by ME π
Eryn’s last blog post..Giants say WHAT!?!?!?!
Hey we don’t have that cover in Italy; you’re special over there π
I want to enter this! I love Nutella. I had it for the first time when I visited France, when I was a senior in high school. Spread on a toasted baguette. Mmmm.
I even bought a Nutella t-shirt. I’m a Nutella groupie.
Emiline’s last blog post..Mint Chocolate Cheesecake Part Deux
Hi Emiline, many people are first introduced to Nutella in Europe as it really is akin to America’s peanut butter in popularity. You *are* a groupie!
This is one of those events that just CANNOT be missed! π
JennDZ_The Leftover Queen’s last blog post..World Nutella Day 2008: Nutella-Date Pudding Cupcakes
Well you *know* I agree with you π
Is that a giant red spoon? : ) Anyway, I can’t wait to see the roundup! : )
Anali’s last blog post..Women for Obama
I believe it is! The Round-up is on its way!
I may just have to get a jar of Nutella and try it. I have always been a little scared to try it because for some reason it reminds me of Veggiemite.
Can’t wait to see what world Nutella day brings! π
Aimee’s last blog post..Hoop moment.
Hmmm, well I can’t speak for Vegemite (I’ve never had it), but I hope you’ll work up the courage π
Caption: “Scoop this! I’m about to become ice cream topping!”
or alternatively:
“Pssst – I ate the whole jar and now it is the only thing I can fit into – thanks for shoehorning me in!”
Anna, hah! I love the shoehorn reference!
Look, I love you, but I really really hate Nutella, and the idea of actually putting a spoonful of it in my mouth makes me whole-body cringe, like at the level of my every hair and skin cell. Toooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Eek ack ick.
Sorry. I’ll go sit in the corner with the strawberry haters (even though I love strawberries — just not dipped in Nutella).
thinking of puppies β’ thinking of puppies β’ thinking of puppies
xoxoxo
Don’t worry Sara, I still love you too. Not everyone was blessed with a sickeningly sweet tooth. I can understand that. But please don’t lick the puppies. That freaks them out.
I think they’re called “Furries.”
LDP’s last blog post..Super Bowl XLII Prediction!
Who? When? You lost me LDP π
anna l’americana’s caption is HILARIOUS!!!
βPssst – I ate the whole jar and now it is the only thing I can fit into – thanks for shoehorning me in!β
Jill@SimpleDailyRecipes.com‘s last blog post..World Nutella Day
Isn’t it though? And so many of us can relate π
caption:
“Now THAT’S Spooning”
Hah! Love it! π
Isnt Nutella supposed to be disgustina?
Sparky Duck’s last blog post..Super Tuesday Madness
Surely not everyone enjoys it (I think it’s probably a love or hate thing), but I think you’ll see from the sheer numbers of Nutella lovers in the round-up that a lot of people do rather enjoy it–including most of Europe where it’s eaten like peanut butter (which is just starting to be introduced here on a large scale).
Love the photo, not feeling too clever caption wise.
Surprised so many dislike nutella, but according my sources, they make a couple of different formulas supposedly reflecting national tastes, further south the recipe is creamy and gets firmer like peanut butter further north.Allegedly Germany is the number one consumer of Nutella even over Italy, and there the formula is firm, and accounts for the FR Kinder line of chocolates.also. Perhaps that accounts for some of the folks up north not loving it, or maybe not.
Pasticcera’s last blog post..Bugie Bugie! a World Nutella Day entry
That *is* interesting; I didn’t know any of those Nutella facts. Thanks for sharing!
AHA. Thank you, Pasticcera. That makes sense. The only kind I ever tried was whatever they were selling in Northern California 20 years ago, and now I have to wonder if it was sugared up for the American palate.
Michelle, “Plushies” and “Furries” are fetishists who dress up as stuffed animals, sometimes in part, sometimes in full-body costumes like mascots at football games or characters at theme parks. Many of us in the U.S. who were previously unaware of their existence discovered them through the television show C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation, which takes place in Las Vegas and once had an episode that featured betrayal and death among the plushies and furries.
I think LDP is imagining that one or more are walking by our costumed duo up top, and that the spoon is leaning into the jar to consult about what their trip is. But I could be wrong.
Also, I want to know how you know that puppies don’t like being licked, hmmm?
OK so what you’re saying is that I need to send you some *real* Nutella. I just need an address my friend, and a jar (or really a drinking glass full…do you like Shrek?) is all yours. It’s still pretty sweet though….
As for the plushies and furries, I will sleep so much worse tonight knowing this. And I will now stop watching CSI Las Vegas here, just in case that episode is coming up.
And the puppies dislike for licking, let’s just…um…never mind.
