Top Ten Signs You’re Addicted to Nutella
***IF IT’S NOW 2010 AND YOU’VE JUST LANDED HERE, be sure to check out World Nutella Day 2010 for this year’s festivities.***
World Nutella Day is *tomorrow*, so I hope your Nutella posts are being polished! If you need some ideas, be sure to check out today’s post at Ms Adventures in Italy: Nutella Virgin? 50 Ways to Eat Nutella and Nutella Lover Types!
In lieu of a traditional What’s Cooking Wednesday this week, I’m celebrating Nutella for *two* days, and hopefully you’ll be inspired to whip something up for tomorrow by:
The Top Ten Signs You’re Addicted to Nutella
10. When your significant other asks if you want to spoon, you say “Sure!” and reach for the Nutella jar.
9. Your drinking glasses consist entirely of old Nutella containers.
8. You’ve never looked at the caloric content of Nutella and don’t plan on doing so.
7. Your afternoon snack is Nutella hot chocolate, Nutella on bread, and a chaser of a few spoonfuls of Nutella straight from the jar.
6. When invited to someone’s house, your only question is, “Will there be Nutella?”
5. Some people see things as they are and ask, “Why?” You dream of things that never were and ask, “Why not with Nutella?”
4.You’ve never met any food item that didn’t pair well with Nutella.
3. You carry around small snack packets of Nutella with you at all times in case you need a hit.
2.When faced with moral dilemmas, you ask “What would Nutella do?”
And the number one sign you’re a Nutella addict:
1. You have written to President Obama begging him to change his famous line to “We will extend a hand if you are willing to pass the Nutella jar.”
Be sure to check out the rules for participation in World Nutella Day here–we’re looking forward to lots of fabulous entries!

What rules? It’s my Birthday! I don’t need any rules. Well, until my wife gets home that is.
Hope your are well. I just saw another picture or two, on L’Ansa, of mud slides in Calabria.
All is well here, Gil; we actually haven’t had bad weather in a few days…
Happy birthday! I did see that the 4th is San Gilberto

Uh oh. Opened new jar (smallish!) jar yesterday & it’s already half gone. I have vague memory of late last night glance at back of jar but decided not to look at calorie count. I saw the serving was 2 Tablespoons (I think). Ha. And OK, it’s more than half gone. Happy Nutella Day Eve.:)

I have to go check the rules because here’s my question, “Does it actually have to be nutello or will any delicious chocolate hazelnut spread do?”

Nutella is truly the greatest foodstuff ever made, it pulled me through all my coursework all-nighters as a student, I truly believe it’s the best “study energy” food!

You know, I am fairly sure that when I was a kid we stored Nutella next to the flour and pasta in the cupboard – talk about a staple LOL – I put it in the fridge now because I like it cold and you are probably supposed to refrigerate it anyways – I just stay away from the label in fear or seeing the ingredients or calorie content. Happy Nutella Eve – I am definitely participating tomorrow, though my submission is boring – I like my nutella with a side of vanilla ice cream.
Actually I believe I read on the Nutella site that you shouldn’t refrigerate…definitely interferes with spreadability

Nutella comes in snack packs? WTH do I get those???????
You may have to specifically request that Nutella USA (if you’re in the USA, of course) get on that….
Liliana on 04 Feb 2009 at 7:01 pm #
I buy two big jars of Nutella a week and they are finished by mid-week. My husband and daughters eat the Nutella right out of the jar with their own spoon when they are not smothering it on bread.
I like Nutella, but only when I get a craving for chocolate! If there is any Nutella left for this week, I want to participate in the Nutella event tomorrow.

A cri de coeur…I just finished the jar! I’m so weak. And about snack packs, yes, where are those??? I’m almost afraid to find out. Ciao & good evening to all. Sniff.
I don’t know if they exist everywhere or just Italy but they’re these little plastic containers of (arguably) one serving of Nutella…cute and portable

Ciao Michelle,
this site is perfect for my chocolate and nutella-addicted self and family members (who just happen to be Sicilian!). Thank you for this blog. I’ve just stumbled upon it via David Lebovitz’s post on World Nutella Day, so I hope you don’t mind if I now link to you on mine (http://www.halalkitchen.wordpress.com).
I noticed you were a lawyer and also that “Has Michelle helped you apply for Italian citizenship” statement in the top of this post. I’ve tried to get it before about 8 years ago (because my father was born in Italy), but I don’t think I’ve tried hard enough. Do you offer professional legal counsel in these matters?
Mil Grazie!

There are little white-ish clear-ish things on my Nutella. Tiny – but there.
What are they? Can I still eat my Nutella?
TL, is the whole jar hardened over? How long have you had it? Where have you kept it? They might just be fat globules, although to be honest, I’ve never seen them on my Nutella BUT if you’re not in Italy, I know different ingredients go into the jars in different countries. I’d personally just chuck it and get a new jar, but I suppose it depends on how lucky you feel
