love thursday: care package from mom
Last week, I was surprised by a box from Mom–this one containing our Christmas presents. Yes, she’s on the ball!
An added bonus to the wonderful, warm winter clothes that we are just starting to need was a container of cookies and homemade chocolates. YUM!
Normally I get one of these *after* Christmas, but this time, since Mom had been hired to make cookies and candy a bridal shower, she sent me some of the leftovers:

The chocolate covered pretzels look like something to die for! Homemade chocolate covered pretzels are something that I don’t think I ever had. I’ll have to add that to the list of things to buy when I head to PA Dutch Country next Summer. Time to finish off my leftover cannnolo.
Oh Gil, they’re fabulous. In fact, one of my regular Christmas gifts for my dad was a tin of homemade chocolate-covered pretzels 🙂

Awww…how sweet. I was craving chocolate pretzels as I was reading! There’s nothing like Mom’s love (the best kind!). BTW I’ve never had the homemade kind either…what a terrific idea 🙂
So long as you get some tasty melting chocolate, it’s pretty easy too (according to my mom) 😉
My daughter brought the cannolo over for me earlier in the evening. It was actually a leftover from a party she had a school. It really wasn’t within my reach for too long.
OK, you are redeemed 😉 Also, I have to add since Awedree made me think of the melting chocolate, my mom will *only* buy it from the Amish….

Oh my gosh! I was just the other day thinking of the Wilbur Choc Factory?? Is that the name?? Now I must go do a search. I remember my family would make a trip to PA Dutch and go to this choc shop that sold these fantastic chocolates in the shape of a fat Hershey’s kiss. Although I suspect this place made them long before? But who knows.. is this memory even close?
And, yes, the choc covered pretzels look delicious. I make them at home, but they never turn out very pretty. Good. But not pretty like the ones pictured!
Okay, I ‘m off to google Wilbur Chocolate!

There’s definitely a Wilbur’s in that area, yes. I think my mom got the chocolate gold coins for our Christmas stockings from them….
They look delicious. That is a true Love package from home. What would we do without care packages and phone calls from Mom? It would be just too sad to contemplate.
