Letters from Italy: Confessions, Adventures, and Advice by Susan Van Allen
Susan Van Allen’s Letters from Italy: Confessions, Adventures, and Advice is a delightful collection of tales from her travels around the bel pease.
Susan’s writing style is so fresh and conversational, you feel like you’re traveling right along with her in Rome, Pisa, Venice, Naples, Sicily, Puglia, and Umbria. I especially love Susan’s recollections of staying in convents as it’s an idea that has always fascinated the lapsed Catholic in me.
Each chapter is a self-contained essay, just long enough to get across its point but not so long that you can’t finish each in one sitting (and move on to another if you so desire). True Italophiles will love Letters from Italy, thus the five espresso cups.
P.S. Susan is also the author of 100 Places in Italy Every Woman Should Go.
