My daughter loves her Nonna’s sauce, which is very simple to make but I cannot make it the same way
the same way for some strange reason it’s either too sour or salty or not sweet enough.
Do you have a simple pasta sauce recipe. Maybe I could follow something written down
instead of something told to me over the phone, it’s just not working for me.
By the way I love your Blog and the new format too.

This look like some great recipes to try. Many people don’t know it, but there is HUGE Italian community in New Orleans and there is a very large Italian influence on New Orleans cuisine. Italian importers came over a hundred years ago and began importing vegetables, oils, and other Italian staples through the Port of New Orleans.
Louise’s last blog post..Summer Solstice Strawberries with Grilled Shrimp Salad
I know it Louise! And I also know there are *a lot* of Sicilians around there especially

I’ve made an olive oil and limoncello cake once before….and….a mild tasting olive oil would have been better and the homemade limoncello was better ice cold and in a glass…and…I took it to work (because no one at home wanted a second helping)…and…my colleagues were um polite…and…the pigeons hanging around the balcony appreciated it the most. end of story…
Hah! I really couldn’t taste the limoncello in this cake–I had to add more the next time around. As for the olive oil, I only tasted the slightest hint, so I must’ve had a delicately flavored oil…or I’ve just built up my tolerance

Oh I absolutely love that photo of the Calabrian sausage and beans! Yummo!
Michelle, have I ever directed you to my husband Terry’s blog, Wide angles, wine and wanderlust, before? I don’t think I have, have I? Do check it out and his current post on Ragu:
http://blog.terencecarterphotography.com/?p=307
He blogs about his work as a travel photographer and writer, and his passions of food, wine and travel, which are essentially his/our work anyway.
I’ll tell him to drop by here too – I should have thought to do so earlier – what a terrible networker I am!
Great! Thanks so much for sharing! Funny you mention that photo…I was *just* thinking about picking up some sausage to make that dish….
