From mid-September through mid-October, Travel Calabria offers the Experience the Farmers’ Lifestyle: Olive Harvest Tour for those who would like to experience picking olives and seeing them transformed into our liquid gold, olive oil. Other local excursions and experiences round out the holiday.

Olive Harvest Tour - Travel Calabria

ITINERARY

Day 1 Benvenuti in Calabria. Arrival at Lamezia Terme airport and transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Buffet breakfast. In the morning you will enjoy  a three-hour walking tour of BADOLATO, an old medieval village perched on a hill at 250 meters above sea level. Visit of the Monastery of “S. Maria degli Angeli,” the Church of Santa Caterina, the Church of Immacolata, and the Bell Tower. Short stop for a tasting of local products at a “catojo,” a typical local wine cellar. Relaxing time. In the afternoon, a visit of a vineyard and an olives grove up on the hills of Badolato. Dinner with wine and local food tasting. Return to farmhouse and overnight.

Day 3: Buffet breakfast. Today with the owners of the farmhouse you will experience the farmers’ lifestyle picking olives. Typical lunch on the land and under the olives trees. Relaxing time. Visit of an ancient olive oil press of Badolato. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Buffet breakfast. Today you will visit “Scolacium,” the archeological park with the ruins of the Ionian ancient town of Magna Grecia and Roman era. Visit of the Magna Graecia Museum and the Oil Press Museum. Light lunch on the way back home. Relaxing time on the beach in PIETRAGRANDE. In the afternoon transfer to GUARDAVALLE for a visit of the “Museum of rural culture” and dinner of traditional Calabrian food.  Return to Badolato and overnight.

Day 5: Buffet breakfast and depart to MAMMOLA , and old inland village.  Visit the park/museum MUSABA and lunch in a local restaurant based on “stoccobaccalà” (cod). In the early afternoon return to the hotel, relaxing time, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Buffet breakfast. Today another day with the owners of the farmhouse to experience the farmers’ lifestyle picking olives. Light lunch. In the afternoon you will cook local Calabrian food followed by a farewell dinner. Overnight.

Day 7: Buffet breakfast, check out, transfer to Lamezia Terme airport and end of our services.
