My Fellow Americans, Happy Memorial Day!

Just a quick post to wish my fellow Americans a Happy Memorial Day as we remember our veterans and all they’ve sacrificed for us.

And now it’s time for me to step away from the computer for a bit as I regroup, take some photos, scratch some goatie faces, walk with the pooches, hang out in the campagna, and get psyched up for a busy summer ahead. Woohoo!

What do you have planned for the summer?

Thanks! Happy Memorial Day to you too. Went to some car race Friday night and there were no vets selling poppies for about the third year in a row. I guess I’ll have to call the VFW.

    No poppies?! Oh dear…

Forgot – we are supposed to go to Italy in September or October.

That’s great news, Gil! Two of the best months here IMHO.

Happy Memorial Day back at ya! And also a fun Festa della Repubblica in a couple o’ days. The weather should be great!

Thanks, same to you! Yes hopefully there’s plenty of sunshine for a cookout πŸ™‚

I haven’t decided yet. Back to lie down & ponder. Giulia/Julie the Cat decided she had to have a hot meal at 5am. Like a good mama (or an idiot), I gave in. Then turned on the laptop. Big mistake but nice to see the lovely red poppy.

I will be cooking from some BE recipini though…………..

    ciao & baci to all

Haha you’re an awesome mama…and happy cooking! I wonder if there will be peas involved? Hmm….

I can’t believe that I forgot today is Memorial Day. I’m really out of touch.

To be honest, I forgot too until Jess of WhyGo Italy mentioned it regarding our podcast taping (normally we tape on Mondays). I’m increasingly having less desire to even try to celebrate these things here too….

I’ll tell you what I WISH I had planned for summer: a trip to Calabria. πŸ™‚ Alas, it’s not to be. So we’ll be hanging at the pool. Hopefully visiting with some family. But generally just chillaxing. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? πŸ™‚

Not at all Ninotchka! Enjoy…and hopefully next summer you’ll be here πŸ™‚

Unfortunately lots and lots of work πŸ™ But, I’ll be planning and daydreaming about my upcoming vacation in September! Can’t wait!!! Also, I’ll be taking an Italian class this summer in preparation for my trip! Thanks for the wishes and for the lovely pix πŸ™‚

Oh your trip will be wonderful…especially after you’ve worked so hard for it πŸ™‚ Good luck with the Italian…or I suppose I should say, “In bocca al lupo!”

    Wow, Michelle! That last photo!!!

That’s actually the first rainbow I’ve seen over the sea since we moved to the new house, so I wasn’t going to miss a photo op! Had to run out of the goat pen and home to get the camera, but it was worth it πŸ™‚

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE! THEY BOTH ARE BEAUTIFUL, BUT AFTER LOOKING AT THE 2ND ONE, WITH THE LIMES, I’M SUDDENLY CRAVING A MARGARITA! YUM!

Haha, actually it’s just a not-quite-ripe lemon, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a ‘Rita πŸ˜‰

I agree Michelle, the rainbow picture was worth it – Stunning! We’re getting a new pool, free! just needs a new liner, so we’ll be spending most of the summer enjoying that.

That is awesome, Beth! Enjoy πŸ˜€

Lovely shot! I’m looking forward to those lemons in my glass with a little Crodino when we get there in July. We’ll be in San Giorgio Morgeto for a month. It’s been a few years since we’ve been so I’m catching up via your blog. Thanks so much for the beans!

    I’m a Crodino fan too…enjoy Mary!
