Is this something like the “cardara” – I think I remember as a child??
Mom used to use a similar container to boil a mixture to wash clothes or something like that…………………

Sei badolatese DOC We use it just for when we need a whole bunch of hot water outdoors…usually for removing feathers/fur.

Cool photo! Gorgeous scenery. Is the cauldron just for Halloween or are you actually boiling something in there?

Actually it wasn’t for Halloween at all! P was boiling water to, ahem, de-fur dinner–just happened to be on Halloween.
