What a great idea, I love little touches like this that sometimes can go unnoticed. What kind of wording can be put on the beans? Is it names, dates, etc. Having a customized party favor or gift is a great way to separate a party or event from ordinary to extraordinary.

I believe you can put on anything you like; enjoy!

Answer from giftmoto.com (the PartyBean people):
“Apologies, but we do not ship to outside of US. The customs and the food packaging laws are different in each country making the process impossible.”

Quick answer, at least.

I would argue that it isn’t impossible, but that they just judge that it isn’t worth it for them to deal with all the different packaging and customs laws outside the USA. Difficult, impractical, but not impossible. Their choice, obviously. Too bad.

Oh well.

Just for info: I have PayPal also, but tied to a Credit Card (Italian bank), and I’ve had that denied from an online merchant because it wasn’t USA based (only a couple of times, though, usually it works fine). I would have thought that PayPal “nullified” that difference, but apparently not always… Maybe if I charge up the PayPal account some other way I can do it anyway? Mah.

That’s annoying about PayPal. I actually have two PayPal accounts, one tied to a US bank account and the other to an Italian one…I’ve only recently done that, but it seems to be working OK so far.

Thanks for the idea, they are really cute and not too expensive, especially with the strong Euro.
You brought out more (curiousity) questions than anything though:

Did you have them delivered within the States, or have them shipped to Italy? I couldn’t find any shipping information or general e-commerce policies on the site. (I put in a feedback request, but maybe you already know this stuff).

I would like to get some for my daughter’s party at the end of May (in Italy) – maybe I need to ship them to a relative and have them shipped again to Italy?

I had them shipped directly to my niece and nephew in the States, so I don’t know about shipping here, sorry

And did you by chance use a Credit Card based on an Italian bank (that has given me problems several times on US based e-commerce sites).

I paid by PayPal, so again, I’m of no help!

Do you happen to have a picture which shows the quality of the final product which arrived?

I *wish* I did, but I didn’t get a hold of my brother this weekend to ask if they could take a photo. My mom’s reaction when she opened the box was *extremely* enthusiastic, but I don’t know more than that. Sorry

Anyway, if you find out some answers, please come back and share–and I will do the same if I can get a hold of a photo

Your niece and nephew must be driving your brother nuts about visiting you in Calabria, especially after receiving the PartyBeans with the “Kids” picture on the lid! First I heard of PartyBeans.

I sure hope they are…summer is great here
