I took a personal day yesterday and watched every minute of it after dragging myself out of bed at 5:15 in the morning. Of course I still have the pre-inauguration stuff to watch from 2-5 am yesterday from Good Morning America that I recorded. What a glorious day it was! I can’t stop smiling!!

I’m now in California and very pregnant so I couldn’t go –but, given half a chance I would have. Can you believe I cried through most of it?! I’m so very very relieved and happy that things are changing. By the way your recipes lately have made me soo hungry to be back in Italy. You know what they say –you shouldn’t tempt a pregnant woman it is bad luck!

Hah, well I also hear it’s not good for a pregnant woman’s cravings to go unsatisfied…can cause birthmarks in the shape of the cravings on the baby…love these superstitions

I watched the whole day long...the parade was a bit much for me so I chose that time to hit the bar for a cafe macchiato. Otherwise, we toasted with champagne once the oath was taken. I took off from work early and watched CNN with the kiddos, trying to explain how important the moment was. Unfortunately my 5 yr old daughter wanted to watch Looney Tunes instead but I managed to convince her. I even taught my 2 yr old to say “Obama”, even if it sounded more like “Oh Mama”! It was an evening I’ll never forget and while the expectations are so high, I’m feeling pretty hopeful.

We watched it on TV. My husband (who’s Italian) actually took the afternoon off from work so we could watch it together with the kids. I cried! Both because of the inauguration and because of my wonderful family!

Let’s hope for the best for Obama…and the rest of us!

I wish I was at the inauguration… so close… just moved from DC in Oct 2007. But I’ll be watching what I can, and definitely celebrating

A lot of my friends are going, but I'll be celebrating with friends at a party closer to home. Got nearly crushed once at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting and don't want to repeat that experience again.
