Sognatrice, my idea for an international you call the holiday day would be this:

For the Love of Frank Day.

It would celebrate the endless love spread by Frank Sinatra via his phenomenal voice and memorable melodies and films over the decades between pre-world-war-two until his death; because his music provides great joy and entertainment and often makes those listening reflect on simpler times, when dancing cheek-to-cheek was a great way to spend a Saturday night, which could otherwise be "the loneliest night of the week."

Radio stations: play uninterrupted, Frank Sinatra's finest melodies, sound clips from famous movie scenes and trivia questions where listeners call-in to guess the correct movie or answer, and any radio interviews he may have given in the past.

TV Stations: Feature back-to-back Frank Sinatra films, any interviews or pubilc apprearances with Sinatra, any documentaries, etc.

TV Talk Shows: Invite guests who survive Frank that: starred in movies with him, had personal or professional relationships with him, danced with him on or off screen, non-actors/regular joes who may have met him or seen him perform in his early, bobbysoxer, days, went to high school with him, lived and grew up in the same town of Hoboken, NJ as he did, etc.

Dance schools: feature the dances of Sinatra's heyday and, of course, play only Sinatra dance tunes.

Movie theaters: Play old Sinatra films, have movie personnel dress up like Frank, or his costars, or former loves.

Public transportation, shopping centers, etc.: play Sinatra tunes on the Musak systems.

Bars and nightclubs: Host Frank Sinatra Look Alike/Sound Alike contests.

The Public: for The Love of Frank Day, everytime people say the word "do" they should try and say "doobie" before it, (i.e., "What should we doobie-do for dinner tonite?").

And, since Sinatra was of Italian heritage, green, red, and white would be the colors used in any advertising or promotional schemes.

Ahhh, for the love of Frank.....

Ah you know I'm all over this...doo bee doo bee doooooo........

Hi! Thanks for the fun blog and hmmm..............
If I could have a holiday, I would call it "Blogger's Brunch" day. It would be a day where all food bloggers would have to get together with at least 2 local bloggers and finally meet, have lunch , talk food, talk life and to share it on a post. I've always wanted to get together and finally meet all these wonderful people who inspire me with their recipes, stories and life! :)

Oh I love this! And it would be even better if we magically teleport ourselves to other locations so we wouldn't be limited to just local bloggers. Great idea :)

I have a holiday! It's my birthday! We celebrate with cards, cake, special meals, great friends, presents... trips and photos and singing... family and friends... big hugs and lots of love. Does it get better than that?

I can't imagine better than that... except for Christmas and Easter.

Does that work?

hmmm... i think mine would be national "Fuck It" Day, to be interpreted however you've like. Don't want to go to work? Fuck it! Tired of dieting and really want a cookie? Fuck it!

Not only would it be fun, but it gives you an excuse to curse like a sailor.

How about International PJ Day. You have to sleep-in, stay in your jammies and just lounge around all day. Most businesses would have to remain closed, but if any were open the employees would have to be paid double.

No special colors but everyone has pancakes and hot chocolate for dinner. :)

This is a great idea. I'm going to have to think about this a bit, although I already know what I'd like to celebrate.

Weird, I've been snacking on pistachios all day, and had no idea the significance. Now I can do it guilt-free! I'm just celebrating...

And, according facebook ( very reliable source), March 25th is "International Kiss an Italian Day"

Twist my arm. In fact, I might start celebrating early. Like now.

Hah, that's funny! I'll have to write down the 25th...
