I love this post. My nephews are only 2 and 4, but so adorable that they could ask to drive my car and I would totally let them do it!

What a beautiful tribute and birthday wish to your nephew, Sognatrice! I know exactly how you feel, as my niece turned 10 in June, and it was tough, oh-so-tough, not to be there to celebrate with her. You described those moments you’ve shared with your little nephew over the years so beautifully.

The story was very touching. I still have chills!
I could even see your brother’s beaming face!
My brother is expecting his first baby (well his wife is the one pregnant) for November!
My godmother (who is awesome) lives and always has lived in Switzerland (I am the one who moved) and I have always missed her. I love spending time with her!

Scarlett, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for an entire family visit next summer…and yes, having small fan clubs isn’t bad for the ego either. I just spent all day with one of P’s nieces, who, incidentally, proclaimed me her favorite zia after knowing me for three minutes two years ago. Not bad considering she has, oh, at least 12 others

That’s so sweet.
I have nieces and nephews also, and they are SUCH a delight. I have my own fan club with them… it’s pretty cool.

11 years… this is a good time. He’s ready to explore the world a bit now… maybe he can come see you sometime soon.
