love thursday: love in the olive oil

Sounds kinky and maybe it can be, but what I’m referring to is what I noticed a few evenings ago.

When it’s time to serve dinner, instead of dirtying yet another dish we (I) usually just take the pan full of whatever from the stove to the table. After a major sit-down with the other night’s lovingly prepared delicious rabbit and potatoes, I was just about to grab the pan to take to the sink when I saw this:

Love really is all around if you pay attention–

and what were we saying about the kitchen being a place full of love?

Happy Love Thursday everyone!

Too bad it wasn’t a picture of the Lord or the Blessed Mother. If it was maybe you would now be on the World news and you could put the counter on e-bay. You have a sharp eye, someone wanted you to see that.

Sognatrice, I would love to know what you think about the Nicole Krauss book. I thought it was amazing…keep us in the loop!:)

      I heart olive oil.
And I heart your olive oil heart too!

That is so neat! Good thing you saw it too!

    5. Giulia on 29 Mar 2007 at 2:18 pm #

OK, so did ‘P’ see you snaping away at that? If my family caught me taking a photo of an empty frying pan with leftover oil, they would think I was nuts. They already ask me why I take so many photos of food.
Good eye though. Take it as a sign. Love is all around you. :)

    6. goodthomas on 29 Mar 2007 at 2:38 pm #

You are good, Sognatrice. It is wonderful that you saw that, in that sea of olive oil. Is that Nambe in the shot as well?

Love is all around, indeed. Often in the areas you would never expect, like in the movement of a hand, or in the crumbs on a cutting board.

What a cool and lovely picture! Neato! :) I love noticing things like this.

Wow, that’s pretty cool! :-) And yes, love can be found anywhere, if we just look hard enough. Hmm, is that why I haven’t had a date in a while? LOL!

Trippy! My LT is food related this week too. I agree the kitchen is full of love!

    10. bella on 29 Mar 2007 at 3:35 pm #

Girlfriend - I love the sentiments, but I just can’t… I have a pet rabbit.
Yeah, yeah, I know.. I’m a carnivore - but I can’t do the rabbit thing.
But I do agree that the kitchen is a place of love!

Very cool photo. Yes love is all around but sometimes we are so busy we don’t see it. I am working on changing that situation in my life.

    12. dillyweed on 29 Mar 2007 at 5:05 pm #

Really neat pictures. And I agree on the ‘bun for food. Just can’t do it myself. :)
      Happy LT!

    13. Bongga Mom on 29 Mar 2007 at 5:42 pm #

Wow, how did that happen? You must have had another love message in your frying pan to make the heart imprint like that! I’d take it as a sign that you’re lucky in love :)

    14. PastorMac's Ann on 29 Mar 2007 at 7:00 pm #

Oh great catch! Love is all around. Happy LT.

    15. sognatrice on 29 Mar 2007 at 7:21 pm #

Glad so many of you appreciate the oily heart :)

Gil, you’re so right! I need to watch more carefully….

Anne, I’ll definitely do a post on “The History of Love” when I finish–I’m absolutely loving it so far!

Giulia, P did roll his eyes a bit, but mostly he just ignored me; he’s used to it now :)

GT, if you’re talking about the spoon, I seriously doubt it; it’s just one from P’s mom’s collection of a million spoons. We use hers because they’re the biggest spoons I’ve ever seen. The pan is T-Fal in case anyone was wondering.

Bella, yes, I commented on the recipe post that I understand those that have bunnies for pets really couldn’t eat rabbit. I’ve never had a rabbit as a pet, but I was also squeamish to try at first; now it’s just an everyday part of life…but I still can’t even watch the dirty work.

Bonggamom, I have no idea how it happened! In fact, once I moved the pan so that the hole closed up, I tried to make a heart hole again (or any separation of the oil) and couldn’t for the life of me.

I was just hoping it wasn’t a sign of malocchio ;)

Great capture! My family is southern so love is in our kitchen. My grandma shows love through food so I have to be careful - cannot turn down love :)

    17. Kimberly on 29 Mar 2007 at 9:13 pm #

How perceptive of you! And what a sweet thought to share…

    18. Elizabeth on 29 Mar 2007 at 10:35 pm #

“Of Mice and Men” by Steinbeck…All the big retarded guy Lenny wanted in life was to have a place of his own where he could raise rabbits.
My son had loved the book in middle school and it got him on the rabbit thing, so when we finally actually got one….

    19. Sara on 30 Mar 2007 at 1:11 am #

Ha, you can’t escape it; it’s everywhere!

Of course I mean love, not olive oil. But olive oil is supposed to be very good for your heart.

How cute. Just found your site. Nice blog. :)

    21. AA on 30 Mar 2007 at 4:14 am #

Amazing that it stayed that way long enough for you to take a pic.
      Good job.

    22. Nadine on 30 Mar 2007 at 6:23 am #

      That’s cool.

    23. sognatrice on 30 Mar 2007 at 10:35 am #

Elizabeth, I’ve never read “Of Mice and Men,” so now I don’t feel so bad (old and forgetful) for not catching the reference ;) We read “The Red Pony,” which I don’t have fond memories of….

Sara, good point that olive oil is actually good for the heart. You think I could do an ad campaign or something?

Camille, welcome, and thank you :)

AA, luckily I had just taken photos of dinner, so the camera was on the other side of me. Actually, it did stay for quite a few minutes as I played with the close-up, etc. Once I picked up the pan, though, it was gone within seconds.

    24. Vee on 30 Mar 2007 at 1:49 pm #

      Love IS all around.
      That heart is perfect.

    25. Cherrye on 31 Mar 2007 at 3:44 pm #

Very cute! You DO have a great eye for catching these things.

    26. sognatrice on 02 Apr 2007 at 11:24 am #

Vee and Cherrye, yes, it’s about keeping your eyes open–and your camera handy!
